Wrapped in their newly opened blankets, Midvale Elementary students in Amanda Kraft’s class settled in to watch a holiday movie in the last hours before winter break.

They were amongst the four classes of second graders who received a new blanket donated by individuals and businesses in the Midvale community.

Kraft thanked those who supported her blanket drive.

“Thank you for all your support during my 2025 Christmas blanket drive,” she said. “Your support made it possible to give over 110 second graders a warm blanket that they will use for years. We were also able to help many families as well. During this crazy and frightening time, it is so wonderful to see our community come together to keep our kiddos warm at Christmas. This was truly a Midvale community event, and I am so thankful that we have community members like you who step up and help where they can. You have all warmed and filled my heart. Thank you all.”

This was the sixth year Kraft has held a blanket drive for Midvale Elementary students and families. The students also received stocking hats and other goodies from donors in individual stockings.

She already has begun accepting blankets for next December. Community members can drop off blankets at the school office, 7830 S. Chapel St., between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. For additional information, Kraft can be contacted at [email protected].
