This annual 3-day event is a showplace and marketplace for Navajo Elders to show and sell their handmade rugs and jewelry and baskets. The event runs Nov. 10 – 12 at Deer Valley’s Snowpark base lodge.

The program called “Adopt-A-Native-Elder” assists more than 500 Navajo elders -- who live in remote areas of the Navajo Reservation in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona – buy food, firewood and hay for the winter. In addition, volunteers deliver food, clothing, medical supplies and other necessities twice a year to support the elders and to build a bridge between cultures.

The show is also a major source of information for the public about the Navajo culture and people.

Each year weavers produce special rugs for the show. This year they have been weaving rugs in the complex Teec Nos Pos style.

Admission is $5 on Saturday and Sunday. However, Friday night’s premier showing with hora d’oeuvres is $30 for adults and $20 for children.

Daily acitivities include weaving demonstrations, traditional dances, Navajo princess contest and Grandma and Grandpa Idol contests a Veterans ceremony and a closing pow wow.
