Winter camp at Copperview Rec gives local youth place to go during holidays
Copperview Recreation Center is hosting a winter day camp for school-age children during the Christmas holiday, starting Dec. 19 and ending Dec. 30.
This program is available Monday through Friday the week before Christmas, and Tuesday through Friday the week after. It goes from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“If you have brought your child to our summer camp or our spring break camp, this will be very similar,” Program Director Ryan Roghaar said. “We’ll have all sorts of activities, like arts and crafts, games, basketball and indoor soccer.”
Children will also be taken on at least two fields trips during the camp, both of which are included in the cost.
“We’ll take them swimming at another recreation center that has an indoor pool,” Roghaar said. “We’ll also take them to Bouncin’ Off the Walls in Sandy.”
Registration is open up until December 13. The first week costs $55 and the second week costs $45. “If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch through their school, the camp will only cost you $30 a week,” Roghaar added. Parents will need to send a cold lunch with their child, but snacks will be served twice a day.
