Halloween party at Copperview Rec

Finding fun Halloween activities for children during October can be scary. But Copperview Recreation Center is inviting all ghosts, goblins and ghouls to its annual Halloween party, Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m.

Everybody is encouraged to come in costume but it is not required. Activities at the party include face painting for $1, a graveyard dive, and a haunted glow maze. Officer DJ will be there to talk to children about Halloween safety. There will be games for children of all ages, young and old.

“It’s freaking awesome,” said Bess Thompson, facility manager for the recreation center. “It will be in our large gym, so it will be bigger and better than last year.”

One highlight of the party is the turkey shoot, held immediately after the party ends between 1:45 and 2 p.m. Parents can sign up to play a game of Horse. The last few sets standing will go home with a turkey for their families.

Flu shots will also be administered at the rec center that day. The shot is free to children with CHIP or Medicare and children without insurance. Adults can get the flu shot for $15.

The event is free and would not be possible without donations from sponsors. The sponsors this year include Kidsville News, Affordable Interlock, BD Medical, and Sugar House Awning & Canvas Products.

The Copperview Recreation Center is located at 8446 South Harrison Street (300 West).
