Murray Symphony to perform on March 19

Murray Symphony will present its first Symphony Showcase on Saturday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Murray High School (5440 South State Street). The concert will feature original compositions, concerto soloists and symphony masterworks.

Symphonic selections include Chabrier's "Espana—Rhapsody for Orchestra ," Von Suppe's "Poet and Peasant Overture," and Beethoven's "Egmont Overture." The Symphony will also perform an original arrangement of Debussy's "Bruyeres" by local composer Tim Francis, and an original composition by symphony member and composer Paul Anderson, entitled "A Knight's Saga."

Solo performances will include Mozart's "Clarinet Concerto - Rondo" featuring Scott Pathakis, Saint-Saens' "Cello Concerto No. 1" featuring Alisha Jensen, and Bach's "Concerto for Two Violins in D minor" featuring Heidi Ahlers and Kerry Ann Herrmann.

General admission tickets are $6 each. Children, 10 and under, may attend for free. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
