Greenwood Health Center

Imagine being able to meet all your health care needs in one convenient location. Now imagine that location has state-of-the-art equipment, friendly nurses and doctors and access to specialists in every health care field.

That's what you'll get at the Greenwood Health Center, 7495 South State Street, which has been serving Midvale residents for more than 15 years. With offices for family practice medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN, physical therapy, podiatry, allergist, and optometry, along with a pharmacy, on-site lab and radiology services, it would be hard to think of a health service the Greenwood Health Center doesn't provide.

"We're a pretty comprehensive outpatient clinic," Greenwood Health Center Service Director Solomon Lin says. "We try to make it a one-stop health care experience for people."

On top of the numerous medical services it provides, Greenwood Health Center is also one of 10 members of the University of Utah healthcare system in the Salt Lake Valley, which means patients have access to all the specialists who are part of that network.

"When you're a patient at Greenwood you have all those specialties at your fingertips," Solomon says. "We're a part of a big family, of many specialties and sub-specialties."

Another thing that makes Greenwood Health Center unique is the programs it offers to help people stay on top of their health. One such program is the 5 for Life preventative health care screening event. Five times a year, women are invited to the clinic for a day of health screenings that includes skin testing, bone density scans and different labs that catch issues that are high risk for women. The event also includes a continental breakfast and a masseuse who gives out free massages.

"It's almost like a spa experience," Solomon says. "And it's all covered by your insurance, depending on what insurance you have."

The next 5 for Life event is Saturday, April 24. There are also 5 for Life events planned for June 26, Sept. 25 and Nov. 13.

Greenwood Health Center also offers group medical appointments where eight to 10 people with the same health issue, such as diabetes, come in for an educational session on how to take care of themselves followed by a one-on-one visit with a doctor.

"It's proven to be very popular because of the social support and the educational component," Solomon says. "It's been very effective in getting people to be compliant with the different treatment plans."

Greenwood Health Center offers same-day appointments and stays open later on Mondays and Wednesday to accommodate work schedules.

"We provide fast, competent and friendly care," Solomon says. "We've developed some processes here, like all of our records are electronic, to try and get patients through as quickly as possible in a friendly fashion. We're also on the cutting edge of health care so we're very competent."

Greenwood Health Center is located at 7495 South State Street and is open Monday and Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 801-213-950 or visit healthcare.ut.edu.
